Children & Family and Adult Programs

May we register as a group?

Group registrations are welcome within the class capacity.  Register early to avoid a maxed-out session.

Can we book a birthday party or birthday group?

We welcome group registrations within the class capacity and are thrilled to make someone's birthday even more special!  However, we will be part of the special day as a separate event, not as the organizer of the party.  Park permits are the responsibility of the party family.  Contact us for more details.

Are there rain dates for outdoor sessions?

Rain dates are made available for all immersive programs.

What is the cancellation policy?

Registrations must be canceled 24 hours before your scheduled program by emailing cancellations@soar.science.  If you are unable to do so, we are happy to reschedule you for a different date.  Refunds are processed for timely cancellations only.

What should we bring to our program?

With few exceptions, all materials are provided by SOAR.  Program descriptions are available on the booking page and outline what is provided.  Personal care items for engaging in outdoor activities (sunscreen, bug spray, etc.) are the responsibility of each participant.

Is food sold or can we bring food to our program session?

Food is not sold by SOAR or provided by SOAR.  Vendor amenities at host parks will vary.  It is not recommended that participants have food during immersive programs as it attracts unwanted bugs and results in unintentional littering.  Snack breaks for anyone who needs one are obviously okay, but they must occur away from group activities per safe social distancing protocol.

Educator Programs

Can I register as an individual or do I need to be part of a school or district PD?

Teachers may register as individuals for summer programs and PDs.  Historically, we've found that inter-district groups promote new perspectives and insights...and even more fun!  Programs and PDs scheduled during the academic year are school-/district-specific.

I loved your program!  How can I get SOAR programs at my school or district?

We love that feedback!  Thank you!  We love working with you! Continue to let your peers, department chairs, and principals know about SOAR.  They may contact us via phone (201-701-0969) or via email (info@soar.science).  Even better, just let us know whom to contact and we will reach out for scheduling.

Can I transfer my single registration to a Signature program?

Signature programs are conducted at district and school levels.  If your school or district has enrolled in a Signature program, you can ask if and how they will reimburse you.

Signature Programs for Districts and Students

Will PDs remain virtual or will there be in-person PDs soon?

Like you, we are eager to return to in-person sessions.  Many school districts are in different stages of returning to "normal" and the CDC continues to update guidelines for acceptable, safe, social settings.  At this time, large-group district PDs, workshops, and other indoor programming will remain virtual.  We will continue to reevaluate in-person options.  Look for updates on the website or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed.

Will student volunteer and internship programs be resuming at SOAR's new facility?

Yes! We are excited to see everyone at our new facility.  We are hopeful that our site transition will sync with coronavirus status transitions and that we will all be in-person soon.  SOAR's new facility is much larger and we have several social-distancing and fieldwork options that we will be implementing.

Are purchase orders accepted for Signature programs?

Yes. Purchase orders and PayPal are accepted means of payment for Signature programs.

General Queries

Are restrooms open/available?

Public restrooms are available at each public park/host park.  However, the status and availability of restrooms vary per park.  The common room bathroom of SOAR's education building is available, but the bathrooms at the main house are currently closed.

Are programs offered in other languages?

All programs are offered in English.  Phone and email inquiries are supported for English, Spanish, and Russian speakers.  Children & Family programs and some Adult programs reserved for private groups/events are available in Spanish.

Is parking available?

Summer immersive programs occurring in public parks include free parking.  However, parking can be at a premium during peak summer hours.  It is recommended that you carpool when possible.  Parking at SOAR's facility includes limited parking on-site with some street parking available.
