Dig in and check out the earth that makes up the Earth!  Get the real dirt about the dirt that provides the entire planet with life.  Be a soil scientist and test samples, count the critters that help create soil, and learn how to set up a milk crate compost bin.  Make friends with worms and learn about their role in the ecosystem.

Put litter on blast - be a pollution paparazzi!  Technology and art come together to help make the world a cleaner and more beautiful place.  Restore the natural beauty of local parks and contribute to local and global data that records litter.  Armed with the power of your cell phone, use the Litterati app to document and geotag litter during a cleanup and nature walk.  Then design a rock with an inspirational message or picture to take home and place in your garden or potted houseplant.

Participants are welcome to download and become familiar with the Litterati app before the session.  All materials provided by SOAR.  Participants are responsible for appropriate footwear and clothing.  The online geotagging cleanup activity occurs on flat ground and potentially in shallow water and mud.  We will be walking through some brush and grass.  It is recommended that you apply bug spray/deterrent before the event and wear appropriate sunscreen during spring and summer programming.  Layered clothing and waterproof footwear are recommended for late fall and winter programs.  Personal hand sanitizer and water are recommended.
